Meet The Captains
Good Time Charters would like to introduce to you, our very special Captains! They all live and play on Fort Myers Beach, and are all licensed Master Captains. We are very fortunate to have some of the best captains around as our Good Time Family:
Capt Cristina, is originally from Jacksonville, Fl. She has a degree in Biology from the University of North Fl, conducted most of her research in the FL Keys and the Bahamas, and worked for local and state govt agencies for a total of 9 yrs during which time she got transferred here to our area. She loves to travel often, and has been to most of the States, as well as abroad to Ecuador, Peru, Australia, British Columbia, and the Bahamian Islands. Cristina began guiding in 2004 and guides our Coastal Sealife shelling and dolphin tours, Kayaking trips, and Everglades tours at www.evergladesadventure.com She also answers calls, emails, handles our marketing, captains’ schedules, schedules routine engine maintenance, and well, we could go on all day. Crowned Buzzard Queen 2006 of Goodland, FL, she is also a certified Florida Master Naturalist, and volunteers with local biologists in Estero bay. She has a candid sense of humor, is a wealth of knowledge about the local fish, wildlife, and environment, and makes for a fun and insightful experience!
Capt Mike, originally from Connecticut, is a former Coast Guardsman. He worked on an ice breaker in New York Harbor before getting a transfer here to defrost on Ft Myers Beach as part of the Search and Rescue team. Just before he transferred to Florida, the Coast Guard warned him he was going to meet a cute Southern girl and never leave. After finishing with the Coast Guard he intended on moving back to Connecticut, but he began working at a marina, met and married Cristina (see above) and never left. Mike began guiding in 2003 and is our primary fishing guide, but he also occasionally guides our dolphin tours and is a certified Coastal Florida Master Naturalist. He is the best backwater fishing guide in Ft Myers Beach and is well respected in the community as such. He has incredible patience, is a very hard worker, and works great with all ages and skill levels. He is very knowledgable of the local waterways and wildlife and will provide you and your family with an experience that you will cherish for a lifetime.
Capt Joe is originally from Savannah, GA and began boating at age 9 on a fishing boat built by he and his father. His experience includes 18 yrs in the retail marine business in Atlanta, GA. Since then, he and his wife and 1st mate, Glenda, have traveled over 20,000 mi. on their trawler “Phase IV” including several voyages to the Bahamas and Chesapeake Bay. In the fall of 2003 they wrecked, or we mean they arrived for a visit to Ft Myers Beach, fell in love with the area and have called it home since. We are sure glad to have him as part of our Good Time Family and we are lucky to have him. Capt Joe runs our dolphin tours, sunset cruises, and private charters. He is also a fabulous singer! He has a great sense of humor, and is eager to share his love and knowledge of the local waterways with you!
Capt Dwight is an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and naturalist. Originally from Alabama, he moved to southwest Florida as a young boy and is very knowledgeable about the rich ecosystems, wildlife, and history of the area. He and his wife and 1st mate Sonja have had many adventures together since they met and fell in love when they were both 11 years old!! Dwight constructed his first canoe by age 9 and spends much of his free time studying the local wildlife and ecosystems of the area. He is also a certified Coastal Florida Master Naturalist. Dwight runs our dolphin tours, kayak tours and also runs our Everglades tours at www.evergladesadventure.com. Dwight has been an invaluable addition to our family, has a great sense of humor and is sure to provide a memorable family fun experience!
Here are some more photos of our crew “off the clock”. They really do need to learn how to have fun.
